The Board South Punjab Grew Out Of
For fourteen years after Partition, every matriculation candidate in Punjab sat under a single board in Lahore. Multan was the first to break away, established on 30 March 1968 under the ordinance that created it alongside Sargodha. At that point it administered nearly the whole southern half of the province.
It does not any more — and that history explains why students in Bahawalpur, Rajanpur or Pakpattan sometimes still search for a Multan roll number. Three separate boards were carved out of Multan’s original territory over the following four decades.

- 2012To Sahiwal Sahiwal and Pakpattan left for the newly created Sahiwal Board, which took Okara from Lahore.
Checking the wrong board returns nothing. If your school sits in any district on the right-hand list, your roll number lives in that board’s database, not Multan’s. The board name printed on your roll number slip is the only answer that counts.
Getting Your Marks on Result Morning

This is the only route that returns a complete Detailed Marks Certificate with every subject listed separately, so try it first even if the site is slow.

Send your roll number as a plain message to 800293. An automated reply follows, and because the SMS service sits on separate infrastructure it tends to answer while the website is still under load.

Multan Board publishes the full gazette as a PDF within roughly two hours of the online release. Being a document rather than a live lookup, it opens even when the portal will not.

Counting Up to 505
Multan Board scores 9th class out of 505 marks. The clearest way to see where that number comes from is to add the papers one at a time.

The three science papers stop at 60 because no practical is examined in 9th class — a single 30-mark practical covering both years comes at the end of 10th. If your card shows Physics out of 60 and you were expecting 75, that is the reason, and where the missing 15 marks actually went explains it properly.
What each paper has to reach
The 2026 examinations raised the minimum from 33% to 40%, and the test runs paper by paper rather than on your total. Thirty marks clears a 75-mark paper, twenty-four clears a 60-mark science paper, and twenty clears a 50-mark paper. Fall below on any single subject and it is graded U, whatever your aggregate looks like.
Alongside the marks, your card carries a letter on the ten-point scale that replaced the old A-1 to F system — running from A++ at 96% down through D at 40% and U below that. No GPA figure appears this year; why the 4.0 scale was put on hold sets out the background.
Applying for a Recount at Multan Board
Multan’s rules are candid about what the service is: a re-verification of marks totalling. An officer confirms that every subjective question carried a mark, that sub-totals inside each question were added correctly, and that the grand total was transferred to the record without an arithmetic slip. What the officer does not do is form a second opinion on your answers — no Punjab board offers that as a candidate right.

Two other outcomes have nothing to do with rechecking. If your entry reads R.L instead of marks, your result is on an administrative hold and the fix is documentary, not financial — clearing an R.L status runs through the order to follow. The most common cause in south Punjab is checking the wrong board. Each board holds only its own candidates, so a Rahim Yar Khan or Layyah roll number will not appear in Multan’s database. Confirm the board name printed on your slip, then check there.
When is the Multan Board 9th class result declared?
2 September 2026 at 10:00 AM Pakistan time. The Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen sets one schedule for the province, so Multan neither leads nor lags the other boards.
Is BISE Multan the oldest board in Punjab?
It is the second oldest. Lahore came first in 1954 and covered the entire province on its own; Multan and Sargodha were established together in 1968 as the first two boards separated from it.
