In the Punjab boards, 9th class students do not sit a separate laboratory practical examination. You take only a 60-mark written theory paper in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Computer Science. A single combined practical worth 30 marks is held at the end of 10th class, and it covers experiments from both years — completing the 150-mark total for each science subject across Matric.

Why Your 9th Marksheet Shows No Practical Score
When you open your Secondary School Certificate (SSC Part-I) result, science subjects appear out of 60 marks, while Mathematics and the compulsory subjects appear out of 75 or 50. That 60 is the complete science score for 9th class — there is no missing 15.
All nine Punjab boards — Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and DG Khan — assess practicals once, across the two-year matriculation cycle rather than year by year. Passing Rules: Theory and Practical Count Separately
From the 2026 annual examinations, the minimum passing mark rose from 33% to 40% under the new grading policy notified by the Inter Board Coordination Commission. This applies to 9th and 11th classes first, with 10th and 12th following in 2027.
